Into my Snack Stash

Tell me I'm not alone. I keep a large stash of snacks in my office drawer. I don't think of myself as a snack-junkie but one time when my boss' stomach was growling really loud I started pulling out all my treasures and had him sample each one. He appreciated the gesture but started looking at me funny. "Wow, uh, you got a lot in there, don't you?" he said with a smirk. "What?! Are you saying I'm fat?" I thought to myself as I smiled back at him.

Well anyway, my snack drawer is one of my most prized possessions because only the best of the best are allowed in. I'm especially proud of it this week because it's filled with stuff I've recently received from Japan:

These guys are simply amazing. It's red bean-flavored Kit Kats. Japan loves its limited seasonal products and this is one of them from Hokkaido, the land of the north. The texture and crunch are the same, but the creamy filling just works better as red bean than as chocolate. I'm sad that I only have one more left but I'll savor each bite.

This one contains another bean. Soy bean, to be exact. It's everything you could ask for in a rice cracker. It's lightly toasted, crunchy, yet so soft and airy that even my grandma could eat it.

Now this one is a definite keeper ... Ritz sandwich crackers filled with Camembert cheese. One thing lacking in Japan is a variety of cheese. Yet, why is it that they're the only ones who produce this flavor? Full disclosure: It's only made of 10% real cheese. Still tastes good, though.

So what's in your desk drawer?

OMG I luuuuuuurve all of those snacks. I've tried the cherry blossom Kit Kat, as well as the black sesame limited edition KK from Japan. And the osenbe with the little nutty soy beans in it are one of my faves. I need a snack stash like that!

Muhaha! I think I have the same instant miso soup in my drawer. I used to have a couple boxes of Girl Scout cookies, but thankfully - I've gotten rid of them all. My hungry coworkers helped me with those! ;) LOL! I'll take a pic of my snack drawer on Monday too. (No school tomorrow! Yay!)

Yay~ I'm glad that I'm not alone, Jeni and Bola! Heck, if the end of the world comes, at least we won't starve to death, right?

Cherry blossom Kit Kats sound very interesting, Clare. Hmm, maybe I'll try to get someone to send them over. We could have a Kit Kat taste testing party~!

The japanese have the most amazing products. People think I'm strange when I munch on a bag of hot and spicy dried cuttlefish, they're really good.

oooh, now I want a cherry blossom kit kat. Yum! Re: the NutriGrain Bars--you gotta get to Trader Joe's and try their "A {insert fruit name here} walked into a bar" breakfast bars--they are MUCH better than nutrigrain and cheaper too.

I feel gipped. My snack drawer at work has boring things such as natural trail mix, intstant oatmeat, pretzels, and raisins. Yes, I'm trying to maintain my girlish figure.

Btw, I love your blog.
